”Exceptional problem-solving skills when evaluating sites and working to meet client goals while balancing regulatory requirements.”
We offer compliance services to meet legal requirements at the local, state, and federal levels. With the current state of legislation becoming very extensive, most projects in forested areas require licensed foresters to ensure strict adherence.
Proactive management of natural resources leads to functioning, productive ecosystems benefiting ecological systems as well as society. Foresters are knowledgeable in many facets of natural resources management including biology, botany, ecology, dendrology, silviculture, geology, engineering, restoration, economics, and many other aspects of forest management.
We work with landowners of all sizes to meet their objectives of timber management, wildlife habitat improvement, fuels reduction, archaeological surveys, maintaining and/or improving water quality, and many other goals.
Many projects and assessments of timberlands require the services of a Registered Professional Forester (RPF). On non-federal lands in California, timber harvest plans, timber inventory and valuations, in many situations any tree removal, fuels reduction and management projects, thinning for forest resilience, operations in riparian areas, and many other projects legally require layout and administration by a RPF.
Principal forester, Zachary Jackson, earned an Associate of Science degree in Business Management from Mendocino College before attending Humboldt State University pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry with a focus on Operations and Management. Having worked in the profession for over a decade, and on projects across California, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska, we are based out of Santa Cruz, CA but continue to work across the entire state of California.
Forest management today is far from the resource extraction practices of old. The vast majority of forestland owners are using a variety of tools and techniques to meet multiple objectives to be good caretakers and stewards of the land. Stewardship is performed through thinning of unnaturally dense stands, upgrading roads resulting in reduced sedimentation of local streams, watershed restoration, carbon sequestration, fuel load reduction, fire hardening of the landscape, etc.
